Gwinnett County
Look just a few miles northeast of Atlanta and you'll find one of the nations fastest growing county's. Gwinnett consist of rolling hills, forests of trees, streams, creeks and a huge lake in the northwest corner, Lake Lanier. To the south, the largest granite formation in the world, Stone Mountain.
Georgia legislators created Gwinnett in 1818. Gwinnett was named after one of three Georgia signers of the Declaration of Independence, Button Gwinnett.
Gwinnett is a county with several leadership roles
With a population of 480,000 Gwinnett County leads Georgia in population growth with an average of 18,000 per year. The population is expected to keep growing up into 700,000 by 2010.

Peachtree Corners Community
A community in west Gwinnett bordering the Chattahoochee River to the west and the city of Norcross to the east is a peacefully landscaped collection of magnificent subdivisions, quaint office parks and a thriving area that has become the home to many high-technology companies. While keeping itself a self-contained community, Peachtree Corners has outpaced even the extraordinary growth of Gwinnett County. The area offers meticulously maintained subdivisions, many with sidewalks, lighted streets, and swim-tennis facilities. Peachtree Corners shining star is Simpson Elementary School, the Gwinnett's top elementary school.Lawrenceville
Lawrenceville is the Gwinnett county seat. It was incorporated December 15, 1821. It is the oldest city in Gwinnett and the second oldest in Metro Atlanta. With a population of 18,000 it is surprising how well the small town feeling is still present.Snellville
Snellville is the southern most city in Gwinnett. It has a population of 15,000.Lilburn
Lilburn was incorporated in 1955. "Old Town Lilburn," an area of antiques, crafts and gift shops is this cities pride and joy. Most land in this area has been built out, so a population of 11,000 is probably not going to change much.Duluth
Formerly "Howell's Cross Roads," Duluth was incorporated in 1906. With a population of 14,000 it is one of the fastest growing cities in the County. One sure thing to look for in Duluth is the residential areas. A few homes reach one million dollars in value.Buford
Buford is a unique city, maintaining it's own utilities, and education systems. Near Lake Lanier, the 9,000 citizens have easy access to Buford Dam Park.Sugar Hill
Sugar Hill may be small now, with a population of 8,000, but watch out. A 300% population growth is expected by 2010, making this little town the fastest growing city in Georgia.Norcross
Norcross was incorporated on October 26, 1870. One of the oldest cities in Gwinnett, this 6,000 population city borders DeKalb County, and is located on the Southern Railroad.Suwanee
Suwanee was incorporated in 1949, but dates back all the was to 1871 when the Southern Railroad was constructed through this section of Gwinnett. just off the interstate you can see the pride of Suwanee, the Atlanta Falcons' Training Center.Dacula
Dacula was incorporated in 1905. 2800 residents pride themselves on their small town traditions. The first Gwinnett county Courthouse, the Elisha Winn House is located nearby.Berkeley Lake
The little lake is just the right size for the 1000 residents of this municipality.Grayson
617 people reside in this small town atmosphere. An older crowd, their pride is a new Senior center.The "Border Towns"
The cities of Auburn, Braselton, Loganville and Rest haven all have sections of their communities in Gwinnett County and portions in one of several neighboring county's. All are influenced by the growth within Gwinnett and are important partners in the county's development.
